The giant, fluffy ears of a bunny rabbit are it’s most distinguishing feature, so I found them to be a natural starting point for this drawing.
Beginning by marking out the darker areas of the ears, I then added highlights with a kneaded eraser to mark out each individual hair and bring some depth to the drawing, until I was happy to move on.
As the bunny is almost all fur, this is the approach I used for the majority of this drawing – adding in the darker areas with a pencil and graphite powder first, before going over them with my eraser to add highlights and depth.
Fun fact – one of the world’s best-known rabbits is the cartoon character Bugs Bunny — who’s often seen munching on a carrot. Carrots and other root vegetables aren’t actually a natural part of a rabbit’s diet, so it’s best to avoid feeding a bunny these or else they’ll end up with an upset stomach!
